Interested in a professional career in the television and motion picture business?

2004 Summer Television & Film Workshop StudentsThe Institute of American Indian Arts 2006 Summer Television and Film Workshop is your introduction to what it takes to be successful in the television and film industries.

In partnership with Disney • ABC Television Group Talent Development Programs and The Walt Disney Studios, the IAIA is pleased to present its third annual Summer Television and Film Workshop with an addition this year of 3d Animation. This program will focus on directing, screenwriting, production, acting techniques and 3D Animation/Modeling for Television and Film. The curriculum for the program will also include workshops and panel discussions with top decision makers and other industry experts.

 

The workshop is geared to all experience levels, from entry to professional, offering up to 12 college credit hours. Faculty is drawn from the professional ranks of the television and film industries. Workshop runs for 8 weeks, June 5, through July 28, 2006.

 

WORKSHOP GOALS

 

  • Assist emerging Native American filmmakers develop writing and producing
    skills for television or film
  • Assist emerging Native American television writers, feature screenwriters, actors, and video producers in elevating their technical and creative skills to be competitive in the marketplace
  • Investigate the distinctive legacy of indigenous peoples expressed through television or film
  • Provide long term mentoring for students
  • Produce and showcase short works written, directed, and produced by workshop students

APPLICATION PROCESS

Portfolio and Application Deadline: April 15, 2006

 

1. Application
A completed application must be submitted and can be obtained either by request through the Admissions Office, downloading the form , or by applying on-line .

2. Transcripts

All students must submit their high school transcript or GED test scores and all college transcripts.

3. Portfolio

This can be a television pilot, spec script for television or film or an animation project that you wrote, directed, produced, or acted in or worked on as camera operator or editor.

Please bring with you a short piece, about 8 minutes, you would like to see produced and be prepared to pitch your project to the selection committee.

4. Two letters of recommendation
At least one of the letters of recommendation should be from a teacher, counselor and/or community leader.

5. Statement of interest in the Institute’s programs
One-page personal statement about what you hope to gain by attending the workshop. Please indicate in your personal statement if you have an interest in writing for television or feature films, directing, or production.
