Faculty Emeritus Charles Dailey joined IAIA in 1971. Instrumental in the formation of both the IAIA Museum and Museum Studies Program, Proffesor Dailey has been recognized as an “IAIA Outstanding Faculty” on more than 13 occasions, was the 2002 recipient of the Outstanding Faculty in the State of New Mexico Award, and has been honored with the 2009 IAIA Lifetime Achievement Award. His professional background includes positions at the Museum of Northern Arizona and the Museum of New Mexico, a writer and illustrator for various textbooks, including Creating a Maniken, and a guest curator for museums across the country and world, including conceiving and building the Southwest Museum in Cavona, Italy. He is best known as the inventor of museum manikin systems, hanging devices and security systems that are widely used today.
