Lara Trujillo-Barela is the Director of Financial Aid & Student Accounts at IAIA. Lara serves as the IAIA Scholarship Committee Chair and is also an adjunct faculty member.
Lara holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism and Public Relations, and a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration with a focus on Higher Education Administration, both from New Mexico State University. In graduate school, Lara maintained a 3.9 cumulative GPA while working full-time at NMSU.
Major Professional Activities
Lara has worked in higher education for the past 15 years in University Development (Scholarship Director & Donor Stewardship), Financial Aid (Scholarship Manager and Financial Aid Advisor), Admissions (Manager and Recruiter), University Library (Reference) and Student Loan Compliance at New Mexico State University, Santa Fe University of Art & Design and New Mexico Student Loans. Lara also taught a freshman-year experience course for four years at NMSU. She was previously recognized by the Southwest Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators with the Philo Brasher Award, and was honored during her junior year in college as the NMSU Undergraduate of the Year for Excellence in Journalism and Mass Communications.
