IAIA SPRING POW WOW

IAIA’s graduating Class of 2006 invites the community of Santa Fe to its Spring Pow Wow, one of the most colorful and multi-cultural events on the Institute’s yearly calendar.

Dedicated to the memory of the late Dan Lomahaftewa, a Santa Fe artist and IAIA Alum, the Spring Pow Wow will stage its first Grand Entry at noon, and its evening Grand Entry at 7pm. A dinner break takes place from 5 to 7 pm.

Saturday’s Master of Ceremonies will be Dominic Arquero of Cochiti Pueblo. Sun Rose Iron Shell will be the Head Woman Dancer, while Cole Kathey will be the Head Man Dancer.

The Pow Wow’s Host Southern Drum is the Zotigh Singers from Albuquerque, while the Host Northern Drum is Blackhorse from Denver.

Vendor booths, always a popular feature at Pow Wows, will be selling everything from beadwork bracelets to moccasins. Needless to say, there will also be fry bread vendors, a refreshments stand selling soft drinks and water, and welcoming smiles for all who come.
