IAIA MUSEUM RECEIVES MAJOR GIFT

In support of its summer 2006 exhibition of contemporary art from Indigenous artists across the globe, the IAIA Museum has been awarded a $110,000 grant from one of the nation’s top benefactor organizations dedicated to contemporary creative expression.

“Relations”, an exhibition showcasing new work by more than a dozen of the leading talents defining the cutting edge of today’s Indigenous arts, has received this financial support from Lannan Foundation, a charitable organization in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

“We are thrilled that Lannan Foundation has endorsed our continuing efforts to exhibit the most exciting developments in Tribal and Indigenous art from across North America as well as points far beyond our shores,” said John R. Grimes, Director of IAIA Museum.

As a survey of the most noteworthy developments taking place inside Indigenous arts circles, “Relations” will demonstrate the conscious and subconscious ties connecting Indigenous artists to their shared traditions and heritage, said Director Grimes.

“Relations” opens on July 7 and continues through September 30.

Exhibition details and select images will be available in late April, 2006, from the IAIA Communications Office.
