NONABAH SAM JOINS IAIA AS RECRUITMENT OFFICER

John Gritts, Director of Admissions, Records and Enrollment at the Institute of American Indian Arts, is pleased to announce that Albuquerque resident Nonabah Sam, 28, has joined his department in the role of National Recruitment Officer.

Ms. Sam, of Dinč and Tesuque Pueblo heritage, comes to the IAIA Campus from the IAIA Museum, where she was employed as a Collections Assistant.

A 2005 graduate of IAIA, Ms. Sam holds a B.A. degree in Museum Studies. Her recruitment region includes Tribal high schools and colleges in the Four Corners region as well as Alaska and the Navajo Nation.

During 1998 and 1999, Ms. Sam held the title of Eastern Navajo Pow Wow Princess. During 1999 and 2000 she held the title of Navajo Nation Pow Wow Princess. During Taos musician Robert Mirabal’s 2001 “Music from a Painted Cave” tour, Ms. Sam toured nationally as a professional dancer.
