IAIA STUDENTS GET SNEAK PREVIEW OF NEW HOLLYWOOD BLOCKBUSTER “APOCALYPTO”
These questions and many more will be on the minds of IAIA students this Thursday evening at a special screening of Mel Gibson’s blockbuster “Apocalypto”, a film set in the period of South America’s Mayan rule.
Arranged and sponsored by ASG, the Associated Student Government of IAIA, the screening will take place at 7pm on December 7 in the United Artists North theatre complex inside Santa Fe Place shopping center.
“Apocalypto” was filmed in Mexico’s Yucatan region and was made with a cast whose lead actor, Rudy Youngblood, is a Native American of Cree / Comanche / Yaqui heritage. The film’s predominately Hispanic and Mexican cast was costumed in the attire and style of Mayan era people, and “Apocalypto” has been promoted as being as accurate as possible in its depictions of a culture that thrived more than 1,000 years ago.
Members of the press on assignment who wish to conduct post-screening interviews with the elected students of ASG’s leadership as well as other IAIA students will be welcomed following the movie’s conclusion around 9pm.
