CREATIONS BY IAIA FACULTY AND STAFF IN THE LLOYD KIVA NEW GALLERY
Renowned for its solid national reputation and its wealth of award-winning artists working in a range of media, the Institute of American Indian Art faculty follows in the footsteps of historic art innovators such as Fritz Scholder, Allan Houser, and Dan Namingha.
Whether they are teaching in one of IAIA’s spacious studios or are conducting an impromptu critique in one of the art-filled hallways that bustle with student activity for more than 16 hours daily, the instructors at IAIA are surrounded by art. Fortunately, this over-exposure to art created by other artists doesn’t appear contagious. In fact, it can be said that its downright inspirational.
Through October 14 the creative explorations of IAIA’s faculty as well as the explorations of several of the Institute’s staff will be on display in the Lloyd Kiva New Gallery of the IAIA Museum Store. The store is located in the IAIA Museum, just one block east of the Historic Santa Fe Plaza.
Fourteen artists are included in this surprisingly strong show, which makes a visit to IAIA Museum a Santa Fe must-do for early autumn.
