Upcoming Exhibits at IAIA’s Primitive Edge Student Gallery

The Institute of American Indian Arts Primitive Edge Student Gallery will host two exhibits and openings in the final few months of 2008. The Fall Senior Thesis Exhibit Organic:Simplicity:Movement:Chaos:Simplexity opens October 30 with a public reception at 5 p.m. This exhibit showcases the work of graduating students and will remain on display until November 24. The 2008 Student Winter Exhibition titled Chiaroscuro: A Thin Line Between Black and White opens on December 8 at 5 p.m. (also a public reception) and runs through January 25, 2009. It will highlight a variety of recent work created by IAIA students. The gallery is located in the administration building on the IAIA campus, 83 Avan Nu Po Road in Santa Fe, and is open from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. The majority of artwork on display at these exhibits will be available for purchase.
The Primitive Edge Student Gallery displays student work covering a variety of themes over the course of an academic year. With each exhibit the gallery instructs students about various techniques and theories used to curate and exhibit artwork.
