###
The Institute of American Indian Arts (IAIA) was established in 1962 and operates three centers: the College of Contemporary Native Arts, the Museum of Contemporary Native Arts and the Center for Lifelong Education. IAIA’s mission is to empower creativity and leadership in Native arts and cultures through higher education, lifelong learning and outreach.
As the nation’s only fine arts college devoted solely to the artistic and cultural traditions of American Indians, the College of Contemporary Native Arts is guided by a strong sense of cultural identity, distinguished by a unique approach to arts education in general. The College is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Universities and the National Association of Schools of Art and Design to offer both associate and bachelor degrees.
Located in downtown Santa Fe, the Museum of Contemporary Native Arts is dedicated to advancing the discourse, knowledge and understanding of contemporary Native arts. The Museum is also home to the largest collection of contemporary Native art in the world and its store is a premier shopping destination, offering the finest selection of contemporary Native arts and gifts.
The Center for Lifelong Education is focused on Indigenous ways of learning and serves American Indian populations in the state, the four corners region and nationally. This division represents IAIA’s tribal outreach, technical services, extended education and cultural exchange.
