The Museum of Contemporary Native Arts is pleased to announce that Delana Joy Farley has been hired as Museum Registrar. She began her position on October 14, 2009.

Farley (Diné) is originally from Littlewater, New Mexico and received her bachelor’s degree in museum studies from the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, NM. In 2008 she received her master’s degree in museum studies from New York University in New York, NY. During her schooling she served as an intern at both the Metropolitan Museum of Art and at El Museo del Barrio in New York City. Farley is interested in the history and theory of museums, museum education, cultural and Indigenous rights, and cross cultural theories of value. She is a traditional fiber artist and beading enthusiast, as well.

Museum Director Patsy Phillips (Cherokee Nation) said “We are so happy that Joy came back to IAIA after leaving to earn her master’s degree. I love it that alumni come back to the Institute to work; it says a lot for the organization. Joy’s training and enthusiasm will be a great contribution to the Museum.”
