IAIA - Institute of American Indian Arts

January 30-February 21, 2014Primitive Edge Winter Exhibition

PrimitiveEdgeThe Primitive Edge Gallery will host the winter exhibition, A Tribute to the Mentors, a themed, juried exhibition curated by graduating senior Leanne Campbell, from January 30 to February 21, 2014.

Campbell has put out a call for art open to all current IAIA students. The art should pay tribute to artists’ mentors, showcasing techniques, styles and influences learned from mentors. All visual arts mediums, except large-scale installation work, will be accepted. The IAIA Museum Studies Department can provide canvas to interested participants. Work submitted will not be broken down into individual categories but juried as a group. The jurying will be held January 27, 2014. All pieces will be juried on artistic structures, overall composition, technical skill, creativity, medium, control of medium and ability. Awards will be given for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places.

Entry deadline is Friday, January 24. Submission entry forms will be sent out by e-mail in January.

The annual exhibition is curated by IAIA Museum Studies seniors as part of their senior thesis.

The opening reception will be at 5 p.m. January 30.

The student Primitive Edge Gallery is free and open to the public from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday.
