The Student Sustainability Leadership (SSL) program presents the 2nd Annual Dumpster Warriors Trash Bash and Fashion Show November 15-16. The event raises awareness among the student body and the larger community about waste reduction and recycling. The SSL will conduct a trash audit and display a week’s worth of campus trash will be displayed in the Dance Circle.

The SSL will have a documentary screening of No Impact Man at 7 p.m. November 15 in the Library Technology Center Auditorium. The Trash Bash, the recycled art and fashion shows, will take place from 5 to 9 p.m. on November 16 also in the Library Technology Center Auditorium. A donation of $3 is being requested to help with SSL activities. The keynote speaker will be Stacey Neff, executive director of the New Mexico Experimental Glass Workshop. She will speak about the creative ways to use recycled glass in functional and artistic design.

The SSL is an internship program that allows students to collaboratively build knowledge and skills to make the Institute more environmentally responsible. As part of the internship, students have created a worm compost site and garden, and maintained a nature trail around campus, among other projects.

The SSL is accepting art, fashion and models from the IAIA community until noon November 14.
