Allen Carrier
Allen Carrier is Senior Director of Public Affairs and a member of the Leadership Team for Pfizer La Jolla (CA) Laboratories. Before joining Pfizer in 2003, Mr. Carrier was a partner with Michael Darling and Associates Communications (MDAC) a full service public relations firm with offices in Los Angeles, CA, Santa Fe, NM and Washington, DC.
Prior to joining MDAC, Mr. Carrier was a Senior Vice President for Shandwick, plc owned Kaufman Public Relations in Washington, DC. His clients have included Bristol-Myers Squib, DuPont Pharmaceuticals and Eli Lilly and Company. In addition, Mr. Carrier’s experience in public health care policy include the Presidential Commission on HIV/AIDS for President Clinton and participating in the landmark 1996 White House Conference on HIV/AIDS. Mr. Carrier has provided marketing communications support to some of the nation’s largest urban hospitals, including Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and the George Washington Medical Center. Mr. Carrier also assisted in media relations efforts for Nobel Prize Laureate in Medicine, Stanley Prusiner, MD and pioneering virologist researcher, Luc Montagnier, MD of the Pasteur Institute.
Before starting his public relations career in 1983, Mr. Carrier served as a Congressional Press Secretary to Norman Mineta, the current US Secretary of Transportation. News organizations he has been a reporter and / or editor for include The Arizona Daily Star and United Press International.
Besides serving as a White House appointee to the Institute of American Indian Art, Mr. Carrier also serves on the New Mexico Governor's Mansion Foundation Board and on the NM Pharmacy Board.
Mr. Carrier has a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the American University, Washington, DC.
