Why Support CLE?

“You can make a major impact, and the impact is that you will be able to support these types of programs, and be able to understand what the issues are.”
Keahi Souza, MSW, at the annual Suicide Prevention Conference, May 2010.

Generous financial support of the Center for Lifelong Education (CLE) at the Institute of American Indian Arts enables us to support our Land Grant institution mission: outreach, scholarship, and research.

As a 1994 Tribal College/Land Grant institution, IAIA is responsible for promoting and strengthening higher education instruction in the food and agricultural sciences, including research and community outreach.  Recently, the responsibility for further developing Land Grant capabilities at IAIA has been entrusted to CLE, and this includes outreach to the area’s Pueblo farmers, youth, and development of agriculture-based courses for the IAIA student population.

CLE’s team of instructional and outreach specialists is dedicated to preserving and strengthening Indigenous cultures through technical assistance and education while maintaining and supporting community-based programs in our priority focus areas. [link to other page that includes focus areas]

Thanks to generous gifts from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, the Oneida Tribe of Wisconsin, and the State of New Mexico, the CLE Conference Center was completed in January, 2010, enabling us to increase capacity for meetings, training, distance learning, and video conferencing, as well as tribal gatherings [insert video link of dedication].

But your support in areas of program funding and operations is crucial for us to continue the work we do for Native children, youth, and families.  Following is a little more information about ways you can help Native children, youth and families.
