PRIMITIVE EDGE GALLERY

The Primitive Edge Gallery, IAIA’s teaching gallery, is located in the Administration Building on the IAIA campus.  The Gallery Director works closely with museum studies faculty and the Academic Dean to provide an exceptional hands-on training ground for students learning about the various aspects of museology.

The gallery displays student work covering a variety of themes over the course of an academic year.  Exhibition subjects range from contemporary issues in Native American art and “art in the raw” to all AFA and BFA graduating exhibitions. With each exhibit the Primitive Edge Gallery instructs students about the various techniques and theories used to curate and exhibit both two and three-dimensional artwork. Each installation provides a foundation for students in all disciplines to learn from as they work collaboratively with faculty and staff.
