Admissions

IAIA StudentsThe Institute of American Indian Arts seeks to attract and enroll highly motivated and talented students from a diversity of tribal backgrounds and cultural experiences. Admission is granted without regard to age, gender, race, sexual orientation, marital status, handicap, or religion. The Institute believes in quality of educational opportunity and welcomes all applications for admission. Non-Indian applicants are evaluated by the same criteria as American Indian, Alaska Native and Canadian Indian applicants.


IAIA Ability to Benefit

The Ability to Benefit (ATB) is a determination made by a college of whether a potential student will be able to benefit with or without remedial education/training, from the program(s) offered at the school. The Admissions Committee reviews and evaluates each application for admission to assess the prospective student’s potential to do well in the Institute’s specialized educational program. Admission to the Institute is determined by evaluation of the student’s potential based on a number of criteria. Degrees

The Institute offers two degrees:

  • Associate Degree – Associate Degrees are two-year degree programs and require the completion of a minimum of 63 semester credit hours.
  • Baccalaureate’s Degree – Baccalaureate’s Degrees are four-year degree programs requiring admission into the Baccalaureate’s program and the completion of a minimum of 121 semester credit hours.
