The Institute of American Indian Arts (IAIA) Museum Store hosts recent and future IAIA graduates in Young Americans April 24 – May 24, 2009. The public is invited to an opening reception on April 24 from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. As always, art work on display is available to purchase and proceeds benefit the Museum.
The show features the work of Katie Avery, Rory Erler Wakemup, Melissa Melero, Luther Pilant, Melissa Cody, Henry Payer, Michael Schweigman, Werewulf Micah Wesley, Taketo Yamashita and Jolene Yazzie. It promises to deliver uniquely fresh and interestingly mechanical works from artists who represent ten different Native nations, plus Japan. If you’re wondering how this forms a group of “young Americans,” you’ll have to come to the show to find out.
