Call to Institute of American Indian Arts Alumni: MoCNA Art Market

The Museum of Contemporary Native Arts (MoCNA) invites all Institute of American Indian Arts (IAIA) alumni to apply for its 2nd Annual MoCNA ART MARKET, which will take place during Memorial Day weekend – May 26, 27 and 28, 2012. MoCNA ART MARKET has replaced the Alumni and Student Market held during Indian Market weekend as a way to improve, expand, and provide a vibrant marketplace and highlight a diverse selection of original art by IAIA alumni. This will be our second year hosting the Memorial Day market and will extend the market to three (3) days (Saturday, Sunday, and Monday).

MoCNA Art Market will take place outdoors in two locations: the Allan Houser Art Park and MoCNA’s Portal. The MoCNA ART MARKET is an economic and cultural initiative that supports, promotes, and focuses on the extraordinary talent and creativity of IAIA alumni.

To Apply:
Each artist is required to submit a letter with their:

  • Name, Tribal Affiliation (if applicable), Address, Email, Phone Number;
  • A short description of the work for sale;
  • Year graduated or attended IAIA and Degree acquired;
  • 5 digital images (jpegs) representative of their work on a CD/DVD;
  • List of works (title, date, size, medium) of images submitted

Selection Process:
The MoCNA ART MARKET is open to IAIA alumni only. The selection process is by a committee and is based on quality of applicant’s work, diverse representation (medium), and inventory for the three-day art market. MoCNA will notify all selected artists on or before April 1, 2012.

Booth Space information:
Twenty (20) spaces available
Vendor Fee: $150.00
Full payment of booth fee is required upon selection.
Booth space includes one table with two chairs and table signage.
Set up time: 9:00 am. Market begins at 10:00 am and ends at 4:00 pm.
Artists must be the creator of the work for sale.
MoCNA is not responsible for damaged, lost, or stolen items.
