The Institute
of American Indian Arts, founded in 1962, is now developing
a unique, fully online BA program called Indigenous Perspectives
on Knowledge and Culture, which will be available to students,
native and non-native, around the world. Although the site is still
under development (and will not be finally complete for several
years) we have made this site broadly available in order to facilitate
comment and feedback from anyone interested in the project and in
the future of American Indian Higher Education Programs. The first
course in this program will be available to students in the spring
term of 2003. Inquiries should be directed to Wade Chambers,Director,
Native Eyes Curriculum Project, IAIA, Santa Fe, New Mexico, 87505.
The program offers students an opportunity to think about some of
the most important social and cultural issues facing the modern
world, within a carefully devised structure of directed reading,
critical thinking, and disciplined writing. and presented from a
Native American perspective. Using the very latest innovations in
Web interactivity and presentation, the courses will provide a complete
"structured learning environment" with online study guides and readings,
streamlined library, web research tools, and online communication
between students, staff and administrators. |
