7th Annual Alumni Holiday Art Market
Santa Fe, NM | Nov 25, 2013 –
More than a hundred of the finest artists and craftspeople from across the state will gather to sell their creations during the Institute of American Indian Arts’ (IAIA) and the Santa Fe Community College’s (SFCC) holiday arts and crafts fairs on from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, December 7.
Artists from Velarde, Corrales, Cochiti, Santo Domingo, Taos, Rio Rancho, Albuquerque, Farmington and Santa Fe are participating in both events. Works for sale include silver work, baked goods, woven handbags, woodcarvings, knitting, quilting, pottery, painting, jewelry, tin work, handmade cards and ornaments, and much more.
IAIA, located in the Rancho Viejo neighborhood just south of SFCC, will feature Native artwork including jewelry, baskets, paintings, prints, ceramics, Kachinas, scarves and more. Ceramics by alumna and IAIA faculty Courtney Leonard, ledger art by student Lauren Good Day Giago, and jewelry by alumus Wayne Nez Gaussoin will be a few of the pieces you can buy at IAIA’s holiday market. The IAIA Bookstore will also offer discounts to campus visitors.
Featured artists at SFCC include local artist Bernard Garcia, whose handcrafted wood furniture and art reflect his Norteño roots. The SFCC market will be in the Main Hallway and Campus Center at SFCC, 6401 Richards Ave. IAIA’s 7th Annual Alumni Holiday Art Market will be in the Library and Technology Center. Admission and parking are free at both events.
