Since the school’s inception in 1962 textiles have been part of the curriculum at IAIA.  IAIA Adjunct Faculty, Jessica Metcalfe (Turtle Mountain Chippewa) PhD, discusses the influences of Lloyd Kiva New and Wendy Ponca on fashion at IAIA and the role of education in contemporary native clothing design.
