Changing Hands: Art Without Reservation 1 examined Native American Art of the American Southwest, Changing Hands: Art Without Reservation 2 focuses on the work at artist living west of the Mississippi River, including Alaska and Hawaii and the farther reaches of northwest Canada. This vast region of the Prairie, Plains, Plateau, and Pacific is represented in Changing Hands 2 by more than 175 artist who work in a variety of mediums- ranging from traditional fabric, wood, and metal to new material such as acrylic, neon, and digital photography- and several who create performance and installation art. They take many different approaches, such as the biting social commentaries of installations artists James Luna and Charlene Teters, the virtuoso beadwork of Marcus Amerman, Robert Davidson’s monumental aluminum sculpture, the refined sculptural glass of Preston Singletary and Puni Kalaheo’s figures sculpture cast in chocolate.
