Dean of Students
Carmen Henan (Eastern Shoshone), is the Institute of American Indian Arts Dean of Students.
The Dean of Students is responsible for the non-academic areas of Student Life and is a senior administrative member who oversees A.R.E. (Admissions, Records and Enrollment), Housing, Counseling, Childcare, Student Clubs and Organizations, Student Activities, Student Discipline and Transportation.
Carmen Henan, an enrolled member of the Eastern Shosone Tribe, has a B.A. in Physical Education from the University of Wyoming and a M.A. in Counseling from the University of New Mexico. She brings to IAIA more than 30 years of experience in tribal college higher education. At IAIA, Dean Carmen Henan has served as Director of Student Life, Residential Director, Interim Admissions Director, and Recreation Specialist.
Prior to IAIA, she was a Physical Education Instructor/Recreation Specialist at the Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute in Albuquerque, NM.
The Office of the Dean of Students is located in the Center for Lifelong Education (CLE) Conference Center.
